The first day of ISE 2023 opened as usual with a media briefing led by Mike Blackman, who quickly presented the rich programme of initiatives, courses and keynotes that will take place during the 4-day trade fair, along with some thoughts on this year’s attendance.

From what we have seen, this promises to be the largest edition of ISE Barcelona ever in terms of area occupied, number of exhibitors and attendance.

In fact, already an hour before the official opening of the event, the outside of the south entrance was packed with participants, eager to get in to discover the various innovations both in terms of products and the training offerings organised by CEDIA and Avixa.

Let’s start the quick daily summary:

PANASONIC Panasonic came to Barcelona with a special focus on 4K and an enchanting experience with Frameless, the UK’s largest immersive art production, which gave us a moment of pure contact with the images, between brushstrokes colours and movements that surrounded us.

On the product side, Panasonic introduces two new PT-REQ12 (4K) and PT-REZ12 (WUXGA) series 1-chip DLP laser projectors designed to offer additional production possibilities and simplify workflow in the Location Based Entertainment sector. With up to 12,000 lm brightness, 4K resolution and 240 Hz projection capability with less than 6 ms latency. Two series ideal for museums, immersive experiences and Rental & Staging applications.

Also special are the Projected Capacitive Touchscreen Displays and the three new lines of high-brightness 4K business displays designed for reliability with up to 24-hour operation.

Panasonic also expands the Kairos ecosystem with two new powerful and silent Core mainframes, the AT-KC200 and AT-KC2000, which expand the platform’s innovative GPU processing to support larger and more complex productions, enabling rich content to be delivered to even more large screens.

The new KC200 expands connectivity options and processing power beyond the current KC100, while the KC2000 offers the highest computing capacity ever, doubling the current KC1000 in number of sources and outputs, increasing processing performance by at least 30% and clip drive capacity by 500% for a total of 900GB. The new 4RU chassis for both models ensures high airflow at lower fan speeds, significantly reducing noise and allowing the system to be placed directly in the area of use.

Also present on the stand was the next-generation 4K PTZ AW-UE160 camera with exceptional sensitivity, the first with optional SMPTE ST2110 compatibility, and the AK-PLV100 studio camera with Super 35mm 5.7K MOS sensor and PL mount capable of delivering extremely expressive video with shallow depth of field.

Highlighted on the stand is the new Tambora Linear 60, the compact version of the Tambora 100 hybrid LED bar that enables extraordinary pixel art effects. These are hybrid bars, incorporating two complementary effects in a single fixture. The first is driven by a system of 400 RGB pixel LEDs, which offer a background light very similar to that of a high-definition LED wall. This LED array can be controlled as 16 LEDs in 25 groups to provide high-quality moving graphics. The second effect is created by a central line of 200 extremely powerful white LEDs for an overwhelming strobe effect that mimics the behaviour of the most popular strobes on the market. This effect can also be controlled through 25 different areas, offering unprecedented versatility.

The company is also presenting VOLERO WAVE, an LED bar with original and innovative features, for the first time at ISE. It consists of a system of eight moving heads, each of which is able to tilt independently by 220°, thus producing original three-dimensional volumetric projections. Each of these heads contains a brand new mirror optical system combined with 40W RGBW LEDs. Their synchronised movement produces an impressive wave of light, which is all the more overwhelming the more Volero Wave units are seamlessly connected together.

Turning to outdoor use, we find the Aqua series, consisting of floodlights with IP66 and marine C5-M protection. A feature that further extends the field of application to the cruise ship sector. A real novelty exhibited for the first time at a trade fair is the MINI-B AQUA. A weatherproof, lightweight, compact and agile mini-light. Its IP66 protection rating makes it suitable for all kinds of outdoor use. However, it is also ideal for indoor installation, as it does not require the same levels of maintenance as normal IP20 luminaires, thanks to the total protection of its internal components against dust.
